Renault team boss Flavio Briatore has confirmed the team will retain two time Spanish F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso and Brazilian Nelson Piquet as their F1 drivers for the 2009 season.
Alonso has been confirmed for two seasons, paving the way for an expected move to Ferrari in 2011.
The news doesn’t come as a surprise to many within F1 as far as Alonso is concerned after his barnstorming finish to the 2008 season but Piquet’s position is under threat and he has only been offered a one year extension by Renault …
