Reigning World Drivers Champion Lewis Hamilton has been disqualified from the Australian Grand Prix after a second stewards’ inquiry held in Sepang, found both Hamilton and McLaren guilty of giving “misleading” evidence at the initial inquiry which resulted in Toyota’s Jarno Trulli being given a 25 second penalty for passing Hamilton behind the safety car.
Trulli’s penalty has subsequently been withdrawn and he not only regains his third place but more importantly, claims six world championship points in what looms as an intriguing battle for this seasons World Drivers Championship title.
