Webber Wins First Grand Prix
Australian F1 driver Mark Webber posted the first Grand Prix victory oif his career with victory at the German Grand Prix. The 32-year-old led home a one-two finish for Red Bull becoming the first Australian to win a Grand Prix since Alan Jones did it in 1981 when an F1 race was held in Las Vegas.
F1 betting odds on the Drivers Championship and the Constructors Championship have been turned on their heads with Webbers victory. Championship leader Jenson Button could only manage a somewhat disappointing fifth placed finish for the Brawn GP Team.
After securing the first victory in a 130 start career, Webber said, “It’s an incredible day for me. I wanted to win so badly.”
“The only thing I thought would beat me, or test me, would be the rain - but that held off.”
“But it’s a great day for me. The team have been incredibly patient with me, and I want to thank them and (owner) Dietrich (Mateschitz) and all the Australian people.”
“There’s no doubt about it, they are both up for grabs. Our big problem at the factory at the moment is building a big enough trophy cabinet!
“We’re taking the fight to the big guys, who will be back. But it is a special time for our team, that’s for sure.”
Teammate Sebastien Vettel said, “I made quite a bad start. I got passed by all the KERS cars - I was passed by both McLarens and Felipe.”
“But it’s another one-two for the team, so I’m very happy. I wanted to win, but Mark did a better job in qualifying.”
